Many industrial products, chemicals or liquids are vulnerable to temperature fluctuations due to complex handoffs within the distribution and storage segments. Certain industrial shipments must be protected from sub-freezing conditions to avoid damaging effects that could make them unsafe or unsuitable to use.
Some TATS materials are even susceptible to shortened shelf life. Solder paste for example – it is typically maintained in a refrigerated state to preserve the integrity of its composition and to thereby prolong its useful shelf life. Prolonged heat exposure causes solder paste fails to meet expected performance standards as a bonding agent.
Being able to track product shelf life is not only valuable, but required in many industries that must adhere to specific design requirements.
